It is important to inherit the traditional virtues

It is well-known that there are many traditional virtues（美德）in China, among which respecting the old（尊重老人）is regarded as（被看作为）the most important one.

When a person is a little boy, it is his parents who should take the responsibility（承担责任）to take care of（照顾）him. However, as he grows into his adulthood（长大成人）, his parents are sure to become old. What elderly parents need is their children's care and love. Otherwise, they would feel lonely and abandoned.

It goes without saying that the traditional virtue of respecting the old needs to be passed down（传递）from generation to generation. It is the young people's responsibility to inherit our traditional virtues and make our society more harmonious.
